02/12/2011 - Winter Fishing Going Strong in South Padre Island
This winter South Padre Island is going strong with large catches of both Trout and Redfish in the bay area. David Draeger of Arizona made the statement, "I've never just thrown my pole in and caught so many fish. We were out on the boat for maybe 30 mins and then every cast was getting a hit. We caught our fishing limit within 45 mins." Even though it's been a little cooler outside, the fishing in South Padre is unbelievable. Don't just take our word for it, visit South Padre Island and catch your fishing limit today.
06/25/2010 - South Padre Not Affected By the Oil Leak in the Gulf of Mexico
South Padre Island has not been affected by the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. The clear waters in the Lower Laguna Madre are still pristine, and the fishing has only been getting better as summer moves along. In fact business has been steadily increasing. The speckled trout fishing has been good early in the mornings, and most morning trips we have been limiting out on the specks. The water looks fantastic, nice color changes are holding speckled trout especially the margarita-green water. In fact we have been spotting quite a few sea turtles in the green water changes. There has been good bait activity leading to some larger fish. The redfishing around South Padre Island has been more consistent in the evenings. The redfishing should only get better as herds of redfish start developing towards the end of summer. Furthermore, the waters and the fish around South Padre Island look great and are not affected by any oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
